iXpand Sync provides users with a password protection feature to secure sensitive data.
To enable password protection, navigate to the "Settings" menu and select "Security".
If you turn-on security in the app, you will be prompted to set a password. Once the password is set, a folder named "SanDiskSecureAccess Vault" will be created on the iXpand drive. This folder will become home to secured files and will only be accessible with the password.
NOTE: Be sure to choose a password that will NOT easily be forgotten. There is no way to recover a forgotten password or decrypt secured files without the password.
Once Security is enabled and the SanDiskSecureAccess Vault folder has been created you may begin securing files. First select the files to secure, then tap the lock icon on the bottom of the screen and enter the password. Once the securing process is complete the files will be moved to the SanDiskSecureAccess Vault folder.
Files stored in the SecureAccess Vault can be accessed by tapping the SanDiskSecureAccess Vault folder icon and entering the password. To unlock files, select the file using the select function and then tap the unlock button.
NOTE: Secured Music, Videos, and Documents can only be viewed after they are unlocked. Secured photos with file size 10MB or smaller can be viewed directly within the Vault folder without unlocking.
NOTE: The SecureAccess Settings folder is required for use of the security function. If this folder or any files contained within the folder are deleted security functions will stop working and previously secured files will no longer be accessible. Do NOT delete the SecureAccess Settings folder if you intend to use the file security feature.
If you do not intend to use the security feature, both the SanDisk SecureAccess Vault folder and the SecureAccess Settings folders can be deleted when the iXpand drive is connected to a computer.
