Formatting SanDisk USB flash drives in FAT32 format using Disk Utility on macOS

NOTE: Formatting deletes all data on your SanDisk USB flash drive. Please be sure to back up all data on your SanDisk product prior to formatting.

How to Format a USB Flash Drive to FAT32 on macOS


  1. Connect the SanDisk USB flash drive to the Mac computer

  2. Go to Applications, Utilities and double click and open Disk Utility

  3. Select the SanDisk USB flash drive from the sidebar and choose Erase

  4. Select the format MS-DOS (FAT) for "Format", Master Boot Record for "Scheme" and click Erase
