Formatting a Sansa player using Windows Media Player
How do I format my Sansa player using Windows Media Player?
WARNING: Formatting will delete all the files in the device. Backup all your data before formatting.
STEP 1 - Run Windows Media Player
1. Click Start > Programs > Windows Media Player.
2. If you do NOT see Windows Media Player, click Start > Run, type WMPLAYER, then click OK.
STEP 2 - Connect the Sansa player to the PC in MTP mode (or Auto Detect)
NOTE: You will NOT be able to format the device if the player is set to MSC mode.
STEP 3 - Format the device (see instructions for your version of WMP below)
Windows Media Player 12:
1. Right-click on the device in the left pane.
2. Select Options > Format.
Windows Media Player 11:
1. Click the Sync tab, then right-click on the device and select Format.
Windows Media Player 10
1. Select the Sync tab
2. On the right panel, check if the device is listed there.
3. Click the pencil icon on the upper right corner of the window.
4. Click OK to start formatting.
