Canon Vixia or Legria camcorder shows error using Class 10 SDHC memory cards
I'm getting a memory card error when I try to record videos on my Canon Vixia or Legria camcorder using a Class 10 SDHC card.

Some Canon Vixia and Legria camcorders did NOT support class 10 speed rating when recording video in MXP/FXP mode. The cameras were released prior to introduction of Class 10 SDHC cards. Canon has announced new firmware updates for these camcorders to add support for Class 10 SDHC memory cards.

Firmware and installation instructions for Vixia and Legria  HF10, HF100, HF11, HG20 and HG21 models may download the firmware from the Canon Support web site. Owners can download and install the firmware themselves.

Firmware updates Vixia and Legria HF20, HF200 HF S10 and HF S100 models must be performed by Canon's Field Service Centers. Please contact Canon Support for further information on where to send these models for this firmwware update.

Here is a list showing the current firmware for these camcorders that resolves this problem.

 Model  Firmware Version  Upgrade Method
 HF20 / HF200 / HF21  1.0.5.0  Service Center
 HF S10 / HF S100  1.0.4.0  Service Center
