Transferring and Listening to Audiobooks on a Sansa player
How do I listen to Audiobooks on my Sansa player?

There are several different types of Audiobooks and Podcasts and depending on the specific version these files may behave differently on your Sansa player. See below for a detailed description for each type of Audiobook or Podcast.

Audible.com
Audible (.aa) files are license protected content. You must use Audible Manager to activate your SanDisk MP3 and transfer Audible audiobooks in order to enable the license.

Please reference the following article from Audible Customer Care for instructions.

Using Audible Manager to Activate and Transfer Audible Audiobooks

NOTE: Sansa Clip Sport and Sansa Clip Jam are not compatible with .aax file formats.

NOTE: There is no Audible Manager available for Mac computers. In order to transfer Audible files using a Mac computer you must first Activate the Sansa on a Windows PC using Audible manager. Once the Sansa has been activated you can transfer Audible content from any computer by simply drag and dropping the Audible file to the Audible folder of your Sansa.

Audiobooks from OverDrive Manager, Net Library or other online library services.
Audiobooks downloaded from public libraries may be WMA-DRM protected which must be synced using the software provided by the source. Generally Overdrive Media Console or NetLibrary is used to sync the files however you may want to refer to your specific Audiobook source to see what software is recommended for syncing the audiobooks to your Sansa player.

Since these files are DRM protected they will need to be resynced every 30 days (some sources may be shorter) to renew the DRM license. If the files are not synced every 30 days you will receive an error that you must resync to continue listening to the audiobook.

Audiobooks in MP3 format or ripped from CDs

Audiobooks downloaded in MP3 format or Audiobooks ripped from CDs can be used with your Sansa. There are a few different ways to ensure the Sansa player sorts these files separately under the Audiobook menu selection.

NOTE: To group Audiobooks together by book on the Sansa Fuze+ you will need to use the Podcast folder instead of the Audiobook folder.

SOLUTION 1
- Copy the file to the Audiobook folder on your Sansa player.
- Once the file is copied to the Audiobook folder of the Sansa it will be
displayed under the Audiobook menu selection.

SOLUTION 2
- Set the Genre of the ID3 tag to Audiobook.
- Once the Genre of the ID3 tag is set to Audiobook the file can be copied to
any location of the Sansa and it will be sorted under the Audiobook menu
   selection.
